| “If I were a rich man,” sings Tevye,
the main character of this famous Broadway production and beloved father
of five daughters. Fiddler on the Roof is regarded
as one of the most famous stage and film musicals.
Set in Tsarist Russia in 1905, the story centers on Tevye and his attempts to maintain his family and religious Jewish traditions while the world and civilization around him change rapidly. He must cope with the edict of the Tsar that upends his village and the strong-willed actions of his three older daughters, as each daughter's choice of husband moves progressively further and further away from established custom. Be prepared to fall in love with this beautifully portrayed, culturally-rich story and music (“If I were a Rich Man”, “Tradition”, “Sunrise, Sunset”). |
