There’s chat of coalition in the air in Northern Ireland but will the
next month see much real change in the political situation there?
Parties continue jockeying for position as the recent lackadaisical Leeds
talks ground down to an almost predictable ending with little actuality
confirmed. But everyone remains talking...and that, in itself...is
a blessing, as autumn edges toward a long, cold winter.
And happy Samhain, everyone. We hope.
At the dawn of this November, all of us will be leaping through our
personal political bonfires, albeit in the secrecy of the voting booth.
During the final days of what has proven to be a blazing US campaign for
president, realistic goblins and ghouls have been abroad in the land, playing
up terror and pending doom if we don’t vote for them. Civil discourse
has taken it in the neck, bitten by true-to-life Halloween ogres who capitalized
on fear-mongering, half-truths and outright misstatement.
After all that, so who’s gonna capture the gold ring? By the next
issue, we’ll know.
On the brighter side, this Irish American Post has some great features
on the Irish theater, plus author interviews, short stories and lots more.
Read on!
