The young Irish band Téada (pronounced tay-da) is coming on strong out the gate! Together for just two years, they've been called a "fresh force in Irish music" (Irish Echo) and named "Best Traditional Newcomers" in Irish Music Magazine with their self-titled debut. Now a quintet, the band has a brand new album, just in time to have copies as they begin an extensive American tour on Feb 13! Street date for the album is April 6, when Teada fiddler Oisin Mac Diarmata releases his solo CD as well. (See below for tour itinerary.)

Téada, "Give us a penny and let us be gone"

Green Linnet #1228

Teada picks up speed with "Give us a penny and let us be gone," their second release and the first as a full quintet, with newest member Paul Finn on accordion joining fiddle, flute, banjo and bodhran. Téada's spirited and soulful playing is heard on a wide variety of well-sourced old tunes, learned from Leo Rowsome, Johnny Doherty, Marcas Ó Murchú and others, and recorded with a live traditional approach. A bright new penny of an album!

Oisín Mac Diarmada, "Ar an bhFidil," Irish Fiddle Music from Sligo

Green Linnet #1227

Oisin (pronounced Oh-sheen) Mac Diarmata is the brilliant young fiddler at the helm of Téada. Ar an Bhfidil ("on the fiddle") is his solo debut. Ireland's Hot Press describes it as "Pure traditional fiddling, raw and unadorned and all the better for it," and The Irish Times calls it "lonesome magnificence." Produced by RTE's Harry Bradshaw, with accompaniment by Téada bandmates and other guests.
