Winter has tossed its frosty best at us, yet we are all doing fine in
the Gaelic world. Concerts, great books, new CDs, plays and events keep
the Irish life vibrant and warm through the end of the old year and on
to the new. Yet there is still war, hunger, disease and turmoil in many
parts of the world this season, causing us all to pause for reflection
on what really matters: family, home, hearth.
Perhaps as 2004 strides across the calendar¹s threshold, the disparate
elements of nature and spirit will reconcile and bombers will be silent,
so people can get on with their lives – regardless who and where. Perhaps
the politicians will take stock of their responsibilities and tone down
the rhetoric. Perhaps....perhaps...perhaps....
Remember, there is always a spring.
