Publisher's Comments

The big news this autumn in Northern Ireland are the elections that shook up the political scene, with the big winners being the nationalist and unionist factions at the opposite ends of the voting spectrum. What this foretells for the future of the peace process and harmony in the legislative halls is open to fortune-telling and crystal ball-gazing, but already rumblings are heard as everyone chooses sides. We can only hope that the factions realize that compromise and dialog that a nation much farther than bombast and vitriol.

Witness the hard work that Military Heritage Tours is doing in this regard, bringing lovers of history, military personnel and others together to learn that the old days are always open to interpretation, that reconciliation of thought can be possible.

For more lighthearted fare in these filmic days of  Lord of the Rings and other movies with a "sharp" edge (such as those featuring pirates and other swashing and buckling seafarers, as well as Japanese warriors), Albion swordmakers in New Glarus, Wis., will make up a classy blade fer ya.

Oh, and have a drink this autumn. Old or new, send us a photo of your favorite publican and we¹ll try to run it under our new feature.
