February 24 – 26, 2012

The annual MidWinter Set Dance Weekend, sponsored by the Milwaukee Set Dance Club, will be held at the ICHC the weekend of February 24 – 26, 2012.  Irish Set Dancing is social partner dance for adults in groups of four couples.  Dancing is done to traditional Irish tunes: reels, jigs, polkas, and hornpipes.

Dancers can cast off the winter doldrums at Saturday and Sunday’s workshops with returning instructor Patrick O’Dea, where specific dances and footwork technique will be taught.

The weekend will also feature three days of dancing to regional bands, all of whom have played at Irish Fest’s dance pavilion.  Friday night there will be dancing to the music of local musicians, lead by Maria Terres.  Saturday night will be the main event, with dancing from 8:00 to midnight to the music of the Twin Cities Ceili Band.
The weekend will close with a Sunday afternoon dance with music from Madison’s Capitol Ceili Band.

Events for this weekend may be purchased individually for those who would like come and hear the bands.
