Heating Degree Day (HDD)
•  January 2012 Heating Degree Day Summary (2011-2012 season)
•  Running 30-day Heating Degree Day Season comparison plot
•  Heating Degree Day bar chart for this season versus previous seasons

Detroit's January 2012 average temperature was 30.7°F or 5.1°F above the current 30-year Normal.
This is in contrast with January 2011 where the temperature was -2.7°F below the normal at 21.8°F.

The new 1981-2010 climate normals are currently being released by NCDC. This report does NOT include the new daily normals but beginning with the CDD (cooling) season reports the new daily normals will be used. Attached is a comparison of the old 1971-2000 to the new 1981-2010 Detroit Normals. Note that due to warmer temperatures during the 1990's the number of normal HDD's will go down while the normal CDD's will go up.
